Convertech's Piet Kruger has been appointed as provincial chairman for the Mpumalanga Animal Matter Reduction Forum. MAMRF is an industry initiative that facilitates open discussion between local authorities, government departments and industry stakeholders in order to formulate effective waste management strategies that can assist industry in addressing the current crisis facing South African abattoirs.

What Are Prions

Prions are infectious pathogens that cause a group of fatal neurodegenerative disease. Prion related diseases all involve modification of the prion protein (PrP). Bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE), Chronic wasting disease (CWD) in deer, scrapie of sheep, and Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) of humans are the most well-known prion diseases.
